Prairie Plains CASA - Transforming Lives

Judges appoint CASA volunteers to represent the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Each year, more than 700,000 children experience foster care in this country. Because there are not enough CASA volunteers to represent all of the children in care, judges typically assign CASA volunteers to their most difficult cases. Read the stories of young people whose lives were changed by the support of a CASA volunteer. Lives Changed: Youth Stories

Our mission at Prairie Plains CASA is to provide a voice for neglected and abused children in the court system. To strive for less chaos and uncertainty in their lives while moving through the system until a safe permanent home can be provided for them in which they can grow and thrive.

You do not have to be a lawyer or social worker to be a volunteer. We welcome people from all walks of life. We are simply looking for people who care about children and have common sense. As a volunteer, you will be thoroughly trained and well supported by professional staff to help you through each case.

Volunteer Spotlight

  •  “CASA volunteers help children by giving them that adult voice that wants what’s best for the child. Someone that has no motivation for anything other than what is best for the child.”

    Jacci Brown

  •  “…we are not always able to conduct supervised visitations with families in their current residence. Over the past 6 months we have been fortunate to have the use of Matthew’s Place to hold family visitations. The CASA staff has been tremendously supportive…McConaughy Discovery Center greatly appreciates the opportunity to partner with Prairie Plains CASA. We highly encourage community members to stop and witness this beautiful facility serving the needs of families in the area. Prairie Plains CASA is a first class organization with a first-class facility."

  •  “in the midst of darkness even the tiniest amount of light makes a difference; ask any child with a night light. Maybe, just maybe CASA can be that light.”

    Joni Unger

  •  "Keeping children safe must be everybody's business. CASA volunteers play a unique role on behalf of some of our most vulnerable children. Their commitment, vigilance and persistence offer hope where there has been little. They help to light the way for these children—and for all of us."
